Candle Care

A little care, a more enjoyable candle

Make room for a safer, lovelier burn

Each candle has its own burn instructions on the label. Please read them before lighting, and use these simple reminders every time you enjoy your candle.

✂️ Before you light it

  • Trim the cooled wick to about 5 mm and remove any wick trimmings or debris from the wax.
  • Set the candle upright on a stable, heat-resistant surface, away from draughts.
  • Keep it well away from curtains, paper, furniture and anything else that could catch fire.

🔥 While it’s burning

  • Never leave a lit candle unattended. Put it out when you leave the room or before going to sleep.
  • Keep candles and flames out of reach of children and pets.
  • Follow the burn-time instructions on the candle label. Do not burn a candle for more than four hours at a time.
  • Do not move a burning candle. Let the wax and container cool before handling.

🕯️ When it’s time to put it out

  • Use a candle snuffer to extinguish the flame and reduce the chance of hot wax splashing.
  • Stop using a jar candle when about 1–1.5 cm of wax remains at the bottom.
  • Allow the candle to cool fully before replacing its lid or storing it.

For general fire-safety advice, see London Fire Brigade’s candle-safety guidance. Always follow the safety information supplied with your candle.
